I came to Chennai from Hyderabad in 2014.That year and next whenever we planned a trip ,it was outside tamilnadu.It is very rare we roam around in chennai due to humid climate conditions.But we didn't miss out our go to place list,
Dakshinachitra,mahabalipuram,
chokidan,some restaurants, malls,temples.Vandalur zoo in the list is still to be visited.After a year in Chennai,I heard so much about temples in chennai and on the outskirts,like Baba temple in Mylapore which is considered very famous and powerful.Many devotees keep visiting the temple for Baba blessings.It is the main temple in Chennai where celebrities often visit.
My first holiday trip in Chennai is neither a Beach nor a mall,it is Mahabalipuram which is also called Mamallapuram.It was August 22nd.My husband woke me up at 5 am in the morning when I was in a sound sleep.I open my eyes and smell the mild nice perfume all of sudden in our room.He was wearing white checked shirt standing infront of me,kissed me on my forehead when I thought it is not a dream and opened my eyes wide,What?You are working today?! I thought.Get up,get ready,lets go out,he says.What?Where?!I didn't even try to remember the date as I didn't focus much on it.I asked where are we going?(Have to take cold water bath 😨😨at 5 am!?There was no geyser at that time in our house :D ) But a girl's biggest question at any point of time.What do I wear now?Which place is that ?Do I have to wear traditional or western or ethnic?

I, finally got ready and locked our house, a car waiting outside.Okay!We got into car.He says,'Sleep,you have an hour.Get some rest' 😚.Sharp by 5.55 am were at Mahabalipuram Shore Temple to see the SUNRISE..We made it to the sunrise time.I am not a kind of lady who had dreams to have coffee sitting in a beach or propose my better half at sunset points 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀(devil's laugh).BUT I am dreaming all of that after seeing
sunrise at Shore temple Mahabalipuram,along seashore on my Wedding Anniversary.It was a beautiful surprise from him 😊

It's beautiful for more reason than the sunrise , none of the tourists arrived for 10 mins and it was calm,garden surrounding the temple,sea standing by.The view for 10 mins was very pleasant.

You can spend a half day and more in Mahabalipuram,There is saravana bhavan if one wants to stop by for food,I like the surroundings ,its spacious and good area car parking.I have been twice to mahabalipuram and we didn't miss stopping by at saravana.

One has to visit this place to not only admire the beauty but also appreciate the ancient buildings that depicts the Pallavas period,carvings on Buildings,like Arjuna;s penance is a must see.
We missed going to light house first time but second visit,we made sure to take those stairs,see the view.

I heard Krishna's butterball in this place is famous and a must-see.A big granite rock stands on its round shaped edge on the inclined surface.This butter ball which is named such later,was initially called a boulder.In ancient period,attempts were made to move the ball rock but all of them failed and now this is considered as ancient monument.Not only butter ball but building blocks in mahabalipuram are also of granite.
